The being that stood before me was a Kasyin, Kes in it's own tongue, a native of this western continent. I knew what it was the moment I saw it, though I had no example previous to it. Only the descriptions of it's eyes betrayed it's identity, deep pools of liquid obsidian, taking in the light of a far flung star and reflecting it back in distant prisms. It towered over me, 6 feet at the least, though it retained a beauty evident of a female. This was certainly not the brutish giant my colleages warned me of. It spoke in a tongue I could not comprehend, thick, glottal words, words that left me with a feeling of welcome and uneasiness at once, and then it left as silently as it appeared.
